Meet Sheona

Sheona joined Cheshire Maverick Cycling Club in September 2022, initially to help prepare for the Grand Route des Alpes in her milestone birthday year in 2023.

Since then, cycling with CMCC has taken her on a wide range of road and off-road adventures. She joined the club’s Paris trip in 2023 and the Pyrenees trip in 2025, enjoying the opportunity to ride famous climbs, explore new landscapes and make new friends within the club.

Sheona has also taken on a number of memorable challenges with fellow Mavericks, including the Coast to Coast from Whitehaven to Whitby, the Maratona dles Dolomites in Italy and the Dragon Ride in the Brecon Beacons. In 2026, she also completed the club’s Ride Leader and First Aid courses.

A love of mountains and great views means Sheona naturally gravitates towards hillier rides. She rides mainly on the road and gravel, with the occasional mountain bike outing, and enjoys everything from club rides to sportives and longer off-road adventures.

Recent highlights have included the Traws Eryri off-road route in 2025, as well as gravel events at Sherwood Forest, The Gralloch in Dumfries and Galloway, and GravelFoyle in Scotland.

For Sheona, cycling is as much about the landscapes, shared experiences and café stops as it is about the challenge itself, and there are always more adventures on the horizon.
